Emotions (fear, joy, sadness, greed... Freedom/prison... something more immaterial... or more classic, underwater, bird eye views... fetichism in all its' acceptances... ;) I don't know but somthing different than guns boobs beer space or donuts...
And since this site is named What The Movie, it's way too soon to have another TV Series contest (assuming we'll have another some day). No, we want you guys to suggest themes for a regular contest (feature films only): so no DtM, no TV Series.
"regular contest (feature films only)" ;-) Short Movies was already suggested before (2 years ago?) and the answer was: it will never happen, too complicated for us Staff to handle it.
@thaizy South America will be among the next parts of our Continents' contests. But the upcoming contest, the one we ask suggestions for, will not be part of that series.
Some classics Underwater Fences, bars,grids... movie posters scream(s) drugs and other addictions freedom/prison emotions (hate, joy, greed, sadness,fear...extasy) haircuts ice, snow, frozen things fetishism crosses and crucifiction ;) guns and boobs...
i like the idea to have a theme which many people know as a quote of a well known movie "see you in space Cowboy" - allowed space, spaceship, moon, sun, stars etc. or "in a galaxy far, far away" if 1st suggestion is too huge
or Strange machines - weird/bizarre vehicles you usually not see in real life
or usually machines like: - planes - ships
objects like - bridges - silhouette of city/building
usually objects many movies have (with no people on the shot) like - drinking glass - empty rooms - postcards or poster at the wall - keys
"Stairs" sounds nice - but elevators and escalators, ladders and ropes for climbing and so far and so on should be added, too. "up and down" as theme-name?
some other ideas: - money (cash, coins, checks...) - obsolete technology (old mobile phones, floppy disks, VHS...) - crossdressing (men dressed like women and women dressed like men) - cosplay (costumes of a fictional character or famous people)
For the record: poll will come one of these days, takes a bit of effort to create such a thing, but hopefully tomorrow. But keep new ideas coming, it'll always be handy for next time!
The "problem" with that is that it's relatively easy, because you have double the hints to actually solve the shot. If you know what movie is in the movie, it's easy to figure out what movie has the movie in the movie. ;) But we'll remember it, you never know :)
I think this was already discussed in the forum, but I definitely find that one week for solving is really short (if you have something planned on the weekend and not much time on the evening, it's difficult to allocate enough time for the vault). I hope we could go back to two weeks of solving for next contests.
Does anyone agree with me or everybody is ok with one week solving only ?
There have been discussions and a poll about this, and it was really tied: some like 1 week, others prefer 2 weeks. Therefore, we usually try to mix it up a bit.
It seems the right time to remind themes we already had:
Previous contests (*): - Birthday - Shadow - TV - Product Placement - Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Holy Virtues - Mirrors and Reflections - Gore - Food & Drinks - WTM Worldwide (famous buildings/locations around the world) - Pictures in Pictures - Creepy Crawlers (creatures with over 4 legs, or no legs at all) - Montage Effects - The Sound of Movies (music and sound) - Geometric Shapes - Nudity - People from behind - Animals - Contrasts - Masks - Strange Machines - Emotions - Summer Olympics - Happy holidays! (Christmas, New Year's Eve and Hanukkah)
(*) Not sidequests, nor "special" contests (DtM, TV Series, WTM's World Tour, ...)
-Bird's eye view -Movie making in movies -Legs and feet -Books and newspapers -Hand or machine writing -Underwater -Crowds -Empty rooms -Funerals -Hands -Silhouette
"see you in space Cowboy" - allowed space, spaceship, moon, sun, stars, planets withour earth etc. "in a galaxy far, far away" - same just without everything in our sun system - if 1st theme is too big) "bridges" "silhouette of city/building" "empty rooms"
new ones: "fire/firepower" - all kind of fire on shot to see include bonfire, chimney fire, muzzle flash etc. "military" - uniformes, vehicles etc. "construction&destruction" - everything something is/go destroyed or is under construction - if too huge, maybe both as single suggestion
