My other suggestion is: Villains that are usually seen as good. But I agree it is subjective and perhaps impossible to solve. For instance, I see Ingrid Bergman in Intermezzo as a villain (because she pretended to be good and a big friend of her student but she didn't hesitate one minute to spoil the little girl's party (among other things) and we can't even say if she was in love with Leslie Howard, if she was doing all in order to achieve success or if she was only a vain woman who always wanted to be the center of the universe
Hope i'm not too late but my ideas are - Killers/Serial killers - shots with some things characteristic for SK, (like letters for zodiac, bodys with some marks etc) - Freeze! Police! - shots with Police officers, badges, police cars, uniforms, space police cars, handcuffs, police stations etc ... - Scars,marks, (maybe tattoos) - IT stuff - computers, supercomputers, hackers, screens etc - Blood patterns - where blood is on first place (not like gore) - Band/Musicans/Instruments - Robots (from kitchen robots to transformers) - Addictive things - shots with coffee, alcohol, cigarrets - Just b/w - Space and other plantes - Masks.
About rewards. Instead of resign from it, you can give some other kind of rewards (if it easy to do). For example the winner receives 10 magic shots and can take some shots from ns to ff (except his own shots), or receive 10 super votes which counts x10 (you can't rate your own shots by supervote), or winner can choose next valut theme from some list prepared by mods, or something like this.
From the previous list I would choose silhouettes or underwater.
There were already so much propositions that It's difficult to add something. So I would choose from those which were added before f.e. diffusion , world currencies , blood patterns and everything that is related to police. Finally, some of my ideas : strange, unusal faces of people, trees, eyes, clouds.
I thought of that but you don't say a word ...Will it be boring ?
Art motifs on: carpets, materials, wall tile (for exemple the scene of the restaurant in "the man who knows too much"). Even scarfs or curtains ... If there is a "living" detail , like hands, foots , animals, plants ... even dead body or anything else that reminds us something about the movie
@Circee personally i don't see any of the subjects posted here very boring so no, your ideas are cool too but they don't seem to attract players. For the poll i need themes that several regular players (at least) like

I like the idea of "world of music" something like that (instruments, band etc) or sounds & music. Reminder of the potential list for the poll :
and what about shots with complementary colors? (blue/orange , green/red , yellow/purple...) okay maybe it will be difficult to find this kind of shot but it could be beautiful! :)
What about shots which managed to capture "movements" ? I mean dynamic shots where we can feel something moving, slowly or fast, shaking, vibrating, running, jumpin, rolling...
To start I have two main suggestions: - Snapshots out of DVD menus (I love those graphics/designs combined with shots from the film) - Draw the Series (combination of the two contests that created the most uploads last year)
I think that draw the movie (or draw the serie even if I don't like series at all) are different (and awesome !) It can be good if this type of contest appear more often (and I'm sure a lot of people can agree on this) because I like to think a lot to find out a "draw the movie" snapshot but a usual contest (like the actual one) is just like the feature film to me. (I just even have to type a keyword in the tag research button and I can create a contest myself with the shots in the archive).
I don't say that I don't like usual contests (this is wrong) but draw the ... contests are definitely better. (and it will be great to have a lot of these).

I think "Draw the Series" is an especially good idea (I posted it, but it's a friend's idea) because unlike movies it is a lot harder to get old series on DVDs. With this type of contest the diversity of uploads will increase a lot in comparison to the last "Series contest" I guess.

about DVD menu snapshots: it's not really in the movie. And about epilogue/text shots or "camera-look" : too easy to find the solution on imdb I think. Same for cars.

@ kinoute: I don't really see a point there about "it's not really in the movie" against menu snapshots. I think that one shouldn't rule out the possibility of posting something other than exactly from within a movie. We all see a lot of snapshots taken from movies here (ANY upload except draw the movie). Menus would be something different for a change.
Posted themes I like from others are: Maps, People from behind and underwater There is a lot of potential in those themes I guess.
And what about something more conceptual about notions like 'Freedom" "Equality" (in all senses and also in thier negation), or more easy ones like "Hate" or "Numbers". I think it would offer more personal interpretations and more surprisong shots...
some further suggestions: Stairs/Staircases Mustaches Hearts Quotes Movies in other movies (maybe too googlable) something like Destruction, Havoc or Battlefields something like Cameos, Regisseur in Movie or uncredited Actors (maybe too googlable)
besides i also think Rain and Underwater are great themes, water in general :) maybe something like Flowing & Dripping :D edit: this would be a great counterpart to the explosioncontest and could go on some contests later with wind/air and earth/stone, kinda elementary system ^^
A few others: - "Eye in the sky" --> Bird's eye view shots - Shots of the future --> Pictures from scenes where you can peek into the future (actors styled old, futuristic technology and so on) - "They live" --> Shots of things (not dead people) which are alive and moving
We are going to make a poll with six themes for the upcoming contest. We need you to write down (again) 3 themes you really like. We will mix in the poll 3 themes from your suggestions and 3 themes from ours. The poll will last for 2 weeks and the contest will start right after with the winning theme.
Again, as much as I love series, it's too soon to think about a new series related contest. So we want only movies-related themes for this one.
