i haven't had my notification on for long, but i've got a feeling that quite a lot of my shots have been magically accepted ;) i'm not going to mention them all.. but i love the fact that http://whatthemovie.com/shot/43550 has made it to the ff's.. so thanks for that :) and all the other ones ofcourse.. keep up the good work!
I would like to thank you so much for accepting http://whatthemovie.com/shot/46995# , I was getting dishearten by such low ratings... Since it has not been solved yet to help you guys that read the forum :) I could tell you it is from a famous movie, and by famous I only mean it's not some obscure movie from an unknown director...
http://whatthemovie.com/shot/49437 , thanks for passin' this one! this was a very important moment in the storyline of this film ;) good thing you guys reckognized that!
A remark about the "magically accepted shots": if you choose to be informed by a shout on your profile, you get the message "your shot has been magically accepted", but if you choose the mail alert, you always get the same message "good news, your shot has been accepted" and you don't know whether it was pushed or not. Although I suspect that most of my shots have been pushed by the moderators, I never had the mail confirmation of it.
I believe this one ( http://whatthemovie.com/shot/71335 ) has been pushed trough, thanks for that. Actually it isn't that difficult, but it only has 4 solves at the moment!
i put some great shots other time, but as some people cant solve it, they rate it low. i hate when this happens, i have some nice submissions rejected :(
I really would like to thank my anonymous benefactor for putting through my shot http://whatthemovie.com/shot/72643 =). I didn't think it's gonna make it and I so like the shot, so thank you very very much :)
Although I suspect most of my accepted shots are pushed by the mods, I never had the formal proof since it is not indicated in the mail we receive. But this night at 2:23, one of my shot was timed out, and this morning at 8:43 it has been accepted. Thanks for my 100th upload ! http://whatthemovie.com/shot/72934
It's not easy to recognise here that the girl actually is blowing the soap-bubbles from her video to the boy's one, because the scene was difficult to cpature. Thank you!
Thank you very much for putting this through =) http://whatthemovie.com/shot/73587 Although I didn't think that it wouldn't make it with this high rating ;) But there have been some great shots lately, so I guess these had a better rating :)
It deserved it, Mike =) I was really hoping some moderator would save it. Now some long days to find the title out, haha. Thanks you guys for pushing up @75924 ^.~ Edited: I woudln't think it could make it on it's own cause it was way down from 8, so it's a good surprise ^_^ thanks everyone who voted then! And thanks m00ch for telling me ;)
Thank you very much for pushing #76572, #77053 and all the other snapshots where i didn't noticed it because of email notification (switched to scruffy 3 days ago ;) )
A big thank for pushing #77146 in the FF, I thought it was a nice shot but it seems that I was wrong :) I still can't believe there are only 12 solvers, tha's such a crucial scene in this famous movie...
A pre-emptive thanks for http://whatthemovie.com/shot/77794 because it's an awesome snapshot and I'm sure some mod will feel compelled to push it through. :D
(Of course this'll backfire and none of my shots will get magically accepted from now on, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. :D)
In my opinion, the best shots on WTM are very often "magically accepted". Some beautiful, some disturbing, creepy, often difficult... but with low ratings (why, Cthulhu, whyyyy?!) :( But thanks to you we all can enjoy them longer (not only in NS) :D Great job!
I like to say thank you for all my shots that are magically accepted. Unfortunately it isn't mentioned in the mail you receive, so you don't really know, but I have a feeling magic was involved with a lot of them. So thank you for all my magically accepted shots!
Oh, i've never seen this topic before! A BIG BIG, VEEEEEERY BIG THANK YOU for all my magically accepted shots! I think i would not have even 1/4 of my shots on the FF if it wasnt for you!
Thanks for http://whatthemovie.com/shot/79285 ! I was disappointed of the very low rating for such a great movie. And I like very much this shot, although I posted it :) BTW a global thank you for all the past (9/10 of my shots I guess) and future magic acceptations...
Thank you for http://whatthemovie.com/shot/80947 It's one of my own personal favorite shot, so thank you for having magically accepted it, and thank you to all the voters who rated it before !
thanks for http://whatthemovie.com/shot/81115 ! i really thought it was a great shot, but the rating is very very low.. i love the composition of the shot, the colors, the quality, so thanks!!
Lot of my snapshots got magically accepted. Thanks for that, but sometimes I'm thinking of what the reason of you guys is to put it through into FF. Maybe it's possible to ask the one who put the shots trough for a reason. Not for all shots off course. But when I just want to know the reason. Perhaps a button which ask for the reason, with a limit of x-questions per day/week/month?
What's you opinion on this guys??
This is not, just to hear how good and beautifull my shots are :D Just to search for the reasons behind magically uploading it.
The reasons are too numerous and varied to list. I guess one of the main reasons is purely the visual impact of the shot. Sometimes its down to personal preference of the moderator, sometimes its based on the amount of shots and favourites an image has, sometimes its by accident :)) Sometimes a lot of easy shots have gone through so I try to pick some nice looking harder shots. And vice versa. Sometimes the shot is a particularly good representation of the movie in a single still, sometimes its because a shot has been "the next image to go through" all day, but a higher scoring image keeps popping up and preventing it from going through. Sometimes the shot is a key moment in the film. Sometimes it is based on the solve rate (I think a 1:3 or 1:2 solve/vote ratio is a nice figure for a challenging shot) . Sometimes I know the image is from a film which is hard to get "awesome" images from so it might get bumped up a bit to ensure the film is allowed some representation.
As you can see, thats a lot of "sometimes". I hope we don't have to go down the road of justifying every shot that a moderator puts through, although I would like to think I can offer a satisfactory explanation of why I personally put most images through, even though sometimes the justification might be as simple as "I really liked the shot" :)
I would hope the fact that we are saving some shots from being rejected by the community score, is enough justification for most. From my point of view your suggestion is a bad idea. It will lead to lots of conversations like "this user had x shot put through because of this reason, but my shot didnt even though it fills the same criteria" etc.. The criteria changes and varies day to day.
I am only speaking for myself here, I can't talk for the other moderators, but I hope this explains it a little.
