I'm a huge "fan" of the WOII and of course the movies of this war.
I saw some movies like The longest day and A bridge too far. I want to see some more of this kind of movies. What movies are there and which movies do you recommend?

Not only a great war film, just generally an incredible film. A masterpiece in my eyes. One of the most emotionally draining and powerful films I have ever seen, and it stayed in my head for days after watching it. It is a very different style of film than the ones you mentioned though, so you might want to read about it, check youtube etc.. before giving it a try.

Patton! My favorite acting performance ever.
    Also:
Band of Brothers (a mini-series, but still recommendable)
    Das Boot (submarine movie)
The Bridge on the River Kwai
    Saving Private Ryan
    Paths of Glory
Flags of our Fathers & Letters from Iwo Jima (About the war in the pacific, battle for Iwo Jima, one from american point of view and one from Japanese)
Der Untergang (Great German movie about the last few days of Hitler)
Windtalkers (Not that great, to be honest)

You should check 'the pianist' ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0253474/ ) out. Very very touching and intense.. Give us a good image of the war.
Schindlers list is also great ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108052/ )

I'm a big fan of war-movies too but I think the ones that makes intensively experience the horrors of the war are better.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Die Fälscher, Escape from Sobibor and Hart's War are movies about the concentration camps, dunno if that's what you are interested in..
U-571 and The Hunt for Red October are two very nice U-Boot movies
Defiance is about the Russian partizanes in WW2
Enemy at the Gates, movie about a Russian sniper
Stalingrad, also about Russia (not the very best movie but still nice)
You probably already saw Inglourious Basterds, Pearl Harbor and La Vita è Bella
Valkyrie and the German original Stauffenberg (Last one is spoken German and not very great:))

Since you are Dutch you also should see Oorlogswinter and Zwartboek:)

Well that were the WW2 movies I could come up with, I hope you enjoy the ones you haven;t seen already:D

Oh Outpost is a sort of horror/creepy movie about a failed nazi experiment with immortal soldiers, maybe you like it, I didn't

Dead Snow is about nazi zombies, btw! :P

    @energ, rulo and asmodai

It doesn't matter which subject of the WOII it is. So zombies, concentration camps, U-boots is all fine with me.
Saw already a few movies you guys mentioned like: outpost(liked it), ingloriouw bastards(good), Defiance(too idealistic, but liked it), U571(was ok), Escape from sobibor(awesome), Harts war(don't remember if I liked it :S) and Schindlers list(too long ago).

My room is going to be a warzone the next two months (But if you guys come with more movies it will be longer I quess :P)
BTW it's freedomday(independence day) or how you call it here. So I'm getting in the mood for WOII-stuff.

Ok... flags of our fathers & letters from Iwo Jima I've seen now. Good movies and I love the fact that you can see views of this battle from both sides.
Saving private ryan and the bridge on river kwai are on for this evening and tomorrow.

Isn't it a good theme for the contest? WOII? Just thinking of it now.
