    @LordMyst

i have no problem if similar shots are dupes, but look at this 3 shots of Stardust (19843, 88010, 101233) They are much more similar, and there is nothing different (in my kung fu panda shot is almost all different to the other shot). So if the kung fu panda shot is a dupe, 2 of the 3 shots Stardust are dupes too. They are much more similar and recognizable, so i think the dupe or not dupe rule is now a bad hoax

    My two cents:

    94154 and 2929
Those ones are really similar, indeed. But I can understand why 94154 didn't got deleted too.

    94196 and 28999
Once again, I can understand why 94196 wasn't deleted. And I'm glad it didn't, because I like it better.

    95051 and 64321
    Same here.
And it's interesting to notice that 95051 wasn't solved more than 64321... Which means people didn't get much help from this "dupe".

    89079 and 77444
I like 77444 better. But 89079 looks good too. And it seems nobody thought it was worth shouting for dupe.

    65128 and 44457
OK, I missed that one. I would have considered 65128 a dupe. Plus 44457 is more quiz material, without the city underneath.

    66276 and 3591
Yeah, 66276 shouldn't have made it to the contest, IMHO.

In the end, out of 6 shots, I'm glad 4 of them didn't got deleted.
Those users chose to upload not-so-different shots and it seems WTM users thought it was OK.

I think if you upload a similar shot, you should be aware it might get deleted if other users don't find it that different. It's kind of a risk you're taking.

BTW, Winterwolf, I've told this before, but I don't agree with you about the Kung Fu Panda and Stardust shots.
To me, 19843 is just a crater with something in it. And 88010 is just a woman lying on the ground. How do you connect that when you haven't seen the movie ???
Whereas your KFP shot had the same colors, the same kind of framing, the same tree...

    - to recognize a tree is much harder with and without leaves
    - a night animation colour, i can find 100 shots with that blue colour
    - the rock, the fog, the turtle is not here, and and... for me much harder to get as for example:

78016 and 83289 same yellow colour, same tree, only the leaves is fly away like KFP
or 76210 and 89221 same colours, the same to see: ships in bottles - very similar and recognizable
dont seen the movie, only solved because the very similar shots

and to the lady in the crater: i saw only this one shot with a lady in white clothes lying in a crater. What else similar shots of other movies are here to say the shots are not unique enough to get not a easy point, i knowed instant there is already the same scene here and needed 15 seconds to find the other shot

"a lady in white clothes lying in a crater"
You're talking about 88010, right? Where do you see a crater? I can see only a weird melted ground. You just KNOW it's a crater because you've seen the movie.
I really don't understand why you keep bringing those up.
I'm sure we can find more obvious "could have been spotted as dupes" shots in the Archive: How about 88645 and 28777? Nobody called that a dupe when you uploaded 88645. But I solved it thanks to 28777.
And 90244/25418??? You got a SotD for that good looking shot, but based on what you've been writing in this thread, I think it would match your understanding of a dupe...

About the Lovely Bones shots, I agree many of them look the same to me. I'm afraid the movie is to blame here...
But it seems most users don't think that way since those shots found their way here.
There's a part of subjectivity here. Any rule leaves room for interpretation.
Even if we change the rule for "exact" dupe, they'll be discussions. What's "exact"?
And establishing a comprehensive list of criteria that define a dupe will only bring more discussions. Plus such a change would only bring massive WTM clean up... hence tons of complaints.

Just upload your KFP shot again and put a shout to explain why you think it's different. And we'll see what happens.
Focus on your shots, make them original and good looking. Try different movies.

maybe we should try it in another way, i want only some clear definition

    - a shot of the same angle and nothing new to see (like the 3 crater shots of Stardust), only difference in zoom, thats are dupes? (choose one)

    ( ) no dupes
    ( ) dupe

(i know you canĀ“t say dupe, because then the 2 shots must be a dupe, you already said no dupe. But if you say: this kind of shots are no dupe, its a clear definition. And all people know to handle this, and if someone mean its a dupe, i can say: look at WTM Forum a Mod said this kind of shots are no dupes, and we have a clear situation - do you now know what i want to reach since 2 days? :) i dont want delete some shots, i want a definition for future - and its not as hard as it seems)

Can you hear me laughing? ("the same angle"... I just wet my pants)
How come, after 3 PAGES, you did NOT understand I CANNOT connect 19843 and 88010? Just accept it. For people who haven't seen this movie, those shots aren't related in ANY way. Those 2 shots are not dupes. Period. And they won't be. EVER.
And it's not a "clear definition". It's just basic observation: those 2 shots are not similar enough to be linked, for people who haven't seen the movie. If you don't understand it, I'm sorry, I can't help you.

BTW, you leave in a dream. IT IS NOT THAT SIMPLE. You won't get a "clear definition". What you'll get is: bitterness... because you'll never understand why people deleted your shot when you thought it was different enough.
I've said it several times, I'll say it again: just make sure the shot you wanna upload doesn't look like a previous WTM shot; if it does... let's hope you can explain why your new shot is worth it.

Okay, it's from different movies, but it's the same shot!According to 5 golden rules, we shouldn't post the SAME or A SIMILAR shot(it doesn't say anything about being okay when it's from a different movie).I hope mods who have accepted it don't get me wrong, but shots like that takes away the place of an original and good shot, which is absurd to me.

I understand you find this 2nd shot not interesting at all. But, I'm sorry, even if it's implicit: it can't be a dupe if it's from another movie. Thus it can't be deleted (for being a dupe). That's why I tried to make people realize it was "some kind of a dupe", hoping it wouldn't make it to FF... again. Obviously, most FF users disagree with me. ^^

I would probably not have uploaded it if I realized it happened in the other movie, but it's been a while since I've seen both movies (and made the shots) so only checked my folder of this part and also only the uploaded shots of this part. Still, I think two the same shots of different movies are allowed, since I've seen that reason several times for not deleting.
