Sekai daisenso (1961) (The Last War). Japanese version with subs. Frankie Sakai (you might remember him as Bulldog in Mothra) does an outstanding job in this and this is so much better than the chopped American version.
I've just seen "the Children" and it's way better than what I expected. Really gave me the creeps... I think killer children will always scare the shit out of me ;)
I saw "Submarino" a danish movie in the movie theater today, it was a really strong drama. The director of the movie was Thomas Vinterberg (The Celebration), so if you like his work go see this movie. It was really great, go watch it if it comes to your country ;)!
Hi all, I'm new here. Took me ages to finally decide to register after reading the forum and the site for ages :-)
Just saw Blood Simple - at last. I saw Barton Fink when I was 15 - when it was realeased. Oddly enough, beofre today I never dared to watch what they made in the 80s. Quite a good surprise I must say.
@forerunner: concerning the 3d stuff: i thought it didn't really add to the experience. it also was kinda blurry at times. in my opinion it's not really more than a gimmick and a nice way of making more money for the studios.
I just watched "A Single Man" by Tom Ford and I really liked it. Good acting, nice settings, interesting light and the score fit perfectly. It's more like a piece of art than a movie.
Just came back from Kick-Ass. Man that was awesome. Sure, there's some comment to be made on how it deviates from the comic, but screw that. It was effing awesome.
I read an article about that, Freudianspud, on how the screenplay was already being written while the comic wasn't finished yet. That might explain some differences.
