I assume that it is being deleted (not accepted) due to content, so it shows up in the thumbnails but you can't click on and vote for the image. I have seen that for a few different images.
It's not deleted. It even shows up in New Submissions. As I mentioned in the other discussion about the same shot, I assume it is just a corrupt image file that results in this error. I recently got this error on one of my own shots ( http://whatthemovie.com/shot/22483 ).
Interesting . . I figured it was like if someone tried to upload a pornographic shot that was deemed not suitable for WTM and therefore just blocked from being voted on or seen except for in the thumbnail view . . . what was your shot showing ? (I just get the error code from the link)
It had this error right after I uploaded it. There was no time for anybody marking it unsuitable. I'm pretty sure it's a bug in the file itself. And I believe it is the same situation with the shot I mentioned in the title.
No nothing like that. I won't tell you the filename, because it's the name of the movie and I'm going to re-save and upload it again sometime :D But it has only characters from a to z and no spaces or anything.
Where did you get that picture from? I can only get to the thumbnail via the submission list.
btw: The one I posted above is a little darker because I did some level adjusting to make it look deeper. That's what I will be uploading next time. The Vista Snipping Tool, which I use to take snapshots, makes every picture a little brighter for some reason.
if you get the url from the thumbmail and replace "small" with "normal" you get the normal still. No hacking involved, and i also have no access to the still page, so horsehead for me ;)
My snapshot results in Error 500, too. Same with another still from the same movie. Maybe it has something to do with the fact, that I have to create a new entry for that movie?
Possible. I also created a new entry for that shot. But I also did create a new entry for another one and it worked just fine. Maybe something else in relation to creating a new entry must happen.
Same problem for me right now : http://whatthemovie.com/shot/22763 New movie, with plenty of alternative titles... I feel quite disapointed, especially because I have to wait 48h before having the possibility to post it again and... have an Error 500 again... Please, Almighty Creators ! Come back and save our screenshots ! :)
Edit : the movie's page has been created and everything seems ok on it. Where is the bug, so ?
The number of the still is a prime number. Some servers have a problem with prime numbers. They use those servers to search for prime numbers by trying all kinds of values and check for an error 500.
One solution is to make a substantial donation so N&T can buy a supercomputer that will process these primes faster and thus they can make a bigger contribution to science and the world as a whole.
The other solution is to wait until terms are over and N&T have time to look at it ;)
Of the three that I know of that have had this problem, two are prime (22483 and 22453) and one isn't (22763). Two out of three is pretty significant, since the density of primes at 22000 is approximately one every 2000 numbers.
A whole bunch of film pages error when you try to go there. tliff's been told, but he's out having a life or something, so he'll fix it as soon as he can.
At least I think that was the gist of it, it's half past midnight and I might need to get some sleep.
