In WTM Beta, movies were supposed to have 1000 or more votes. Has this rule (guideline?) been carried over to WTM 2.0? Has it been discussed?

    A few examples:
    Shot: http://whatthemovie.com/shot/20222 - 534 imdb votes: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1145446/
    Shot: http://whatthemovie.com/shot/20103 - 408 imdb votes: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052611/
There is also at least one in Feature Films, but I won't name it here to avoid any hints.
The one in Feature Films came after the switch to WTM 2.0, but the ones in the archive are pre-switch.

Of course, imdb votes is not the best judge of a movies popularity or obscurity:
    Shot: http://whatthemovie.com/shot/19901 - only 666 imdb votes: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054949/, but over 300 solves

If it is a awesome shot, I don't really care if the imdb votes are under the 1000.

I agree with you on that. The one that's currently in Feature Films is a great shot. It's also a recent movie (2008) that got a good review from the NYTs, so I'm glad I found out about it.

I really hope that there wont be a rule to have shots only from movies that have more than a 1000 votes on IMDB. That would be very unfair!! There are many good movies (or should I say "better movies" lol) with less than 1000. The game should be also to discover movies, not to post only things everybody knows...

We already had a discussion on this topic in WTM Beta ( http://forum.whatthemovie.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=143 )

It was never a strict rule more a guideline. As long as the still is interesting, funny or outstanding in another way, I don't see any reason to not post them.
