http://whatthemovie.com/shot/25533 - alealeale : bq He has no clue on what kind of movie this is but he still has an opinion. I guess from now on any dogma95 movie will get a bq vote...
http://whatthemovie.com/shot/25761 - padvinder95 : Porn SInce when naked people in a movie means porn? Please give padvinder95 a mormon memorabilia...
LordMyst, Padvinder and myself have had a lengthy discussion tonight and it has been sorted out. Padvinder has apologised for being so strict with his votes. It would be cool if you could edit that section out of your original post as nothing further needs to be said about it, it has been put to bed, if I may use that expression heheh
alealeale however.... dont get me started :) bq BQ BQ BQ BQ BQ !!!!
Hey Evariste, had you but paid attention to my profile, you would have seen that them00ch, LordMyst and I already talked that through; sort of private, without everyone else on the forum giving their valued-but-hardly-helping-things-progress meaning, if you know what I mean ;-)
Of course the first still you posted is supposed to be like that, and it should not have gotten a delete-vote, but alealeale is at least attentive to bad quality shots - he is trying to help WTM, not trying to fuck things up (at least that's what naive me is thinking).
You are totally right that some people's opinions on what should and should not be deleted differ a lot, but that has already been pointed out by a lot of people on the forums. Naut already promised he would draw up some guidelines, so people who get the rank of CL and are eager to help WTM improve, will have some clue as to how to do it - because I am sure they (and I) are really meaning to do just that!
So, I think you are totally right on people voting delete on stills don't always follow the general opinion - but it's been said before, and as I just wrote, the issue is being looked into :-) I think that until the real solution arrives, we will just have to put up with it and teach new CL'ers how to handle their new abilities; solving issues like the first still you posted like you did it :)
[edit] Hm, I should either shorten my post lengths or type faster to beat them00ch to replying, heh. Also, your jokes are bad, them00ch.. but I like them :D
That shot is so much worse than some of the stills alealeale has voted as bad quality. It took every ounce of willpower to not vote bad quality just out of revenge for all the hundreds of good quality, high scoring images he has needlessly voted for :)
Yeah I know Im an idiot :( I dont know the movie, was guessing some titles, and then opened up the delete box to see why it had been voted. I forgot to close it down before I made another guess at the movie, and presto : possibly the most random vote delete message ever.
About alealebqbqale, I'm getting a very bad mood about his del-votes. For me, voters for "bad quality" (it's so cool to write words entirely, especially when the words have only few letters... ale*3 should try it) are allowed to qualify a shot as "bad quality" only if there are uploading themselves only shots from DVD. And I'm not sure it's the case of our mutual friend... I will check soon, for this shot of Walter in a World of pain (greeeeat movie !)...
By posting this shot, my intention was not to start a new endless thread about what's porn or what's not. This shot was taken from a masterpiece and is very specific to that movie. So it should be considered as any other shot. That's it.
The movie you're referring too has many other possible screenshots. Why pick that one?
In the movie the image is meant to be deranging. So having it on whatthemovie where it'll be seen by everyone, out of context, seems plain wrong to me. So even if this image is important in the movie (not story-wise, but it's a very famous shot of the movie precisely because it shocked a lot of people) it should not be accepted here.
Months ago, we already had a discussion about this (I think it was about gore, more than sex, but the point is the same): wtm is intended for a very wide audience, and the images on the site should not be offensive to anyone. So you can upload images from any movie, even if the movie is incredibly violent, pornographic and whatnot, but the image shouldn't be inappropriate on its own.
