we've just deployed some updates, and we'll go grab some food now. more information when we return, two things now:
> vote-deleted snapshots will now be checked before final deletion and > there is a one snapshot/movie/week limit. One snapshot of the same movie per week should be enough. What do you think?
Thanks, I have to say, the new updates look awesome! About the one movie snapshot only per week, I would say it is not even enough lol One each month would be more of my taste but I might exagerate a bit lol it comes from all the furstration of seeing latelly the same movie over and over..... and over :-)
Great updates, - The seperation between submissions and movies that made it to the FF (on your profile) - the fact you can delete your own deletion-votes - and the menu on top of the screen
Love it, I just noticed the profile stuff too, now my reviews show up on my profile! Very handy :) I had stopped writing them because I was losing track of them but I will carry on now :)
And I love the new submission section on your profile, pictures that made it etc..
Supremely awesome ;) Thanks naut and tliff.
And I mentioned it in another thread but I much prefer the new top menu, so much slicker. Thanks
I definitely concur with the 1 snapshot/movie/week rule. Excellent - will make people dig a bit deeper. How will we know if a film has already been posted? Will it give a warning as soon as you select a film to upload?
Very cool updates. This one week rule will hopefully solve the "as soon as a shot is posted from a movie that hasn't been posted in a long time, if ever, another shot of the same movie will be posted within the next 48 hours" phenomenon that has occured quite a lot since wtm2.
And I definitely agree with the others, the new top menu is a lot better. I hated it when I wanted to toggle the date of the shown shots and that damn menu came down and blocked my cursor, forcing me to move it away again and then carefully aiming at the date. ^^
wow, thanks for all the flowers :) that was only the tiny cap of our todo iceberg, there are like 50 tasks remaining. a short rundown of our changes from yesterday:
> vote-deleted snapshots will now be checked before final deletion and > there is a one snapshot/movie/week limit > you are able to revoke your own vote-delete > menu makeover > film years are displayed in searches and on movie pages > a new maximum username length of 20 characters > auto-login is back > add-movie bug with empty alt titles is fixed > review teaser and splitted snapshot gallery @ profile > misc special character errors
But it could be nice that the "snapshot/movie/week limit" was shown before you need to type down the catcha stuff when uploading pics :).. Then you dont need to type a lot of words down and then see you can't upload your shot (maybe it's only me who is lazy).. Hope you understand my english
I don't think this would be such a good idea. What if only 2 people solve the shot, but the shot is obviously low quality / distorted / with huge black bars... ? It wouldn't be deleted if that feature is implemented. And still it should.
I think the other new/upcoming features are good enough : - votes are checked before actual deletion - shoutbox can be used to explain why it isn't low quality or whatever (just use tags while it's not available yet) - users are now able to remove their deletion-vote when they realize they were wrong

That is a goodpoint MrZ. I could invent some film on the new movie entry, upload a close up picture of buttsex, and noone wuold be able to delete it. Muwhahahah
I just thought: if you can vote for deletion, why not against it? So, if somebody votes against deletion 6 votes for deletion are needed and not only 5.
votes on shots by people who solved the shot count more
What about shots that haven't been solved much then? that means they will have automatically less good rating comparing to the ones that have been solved a lot? I know it is already the case, but this will increase the problem. Or am I not understanding this correctly?
When i search for "Festen" when uploading a picture the only movie that comes up is "The Party" from 1968 and it's not that movie... When I do a normal search for "Festen" then "Festen" and "The Party" comes up why?
@Chrisy We just changed the way the average vote for a shot is calculated. We weigh votes by solvers more. The process in the queue remains the same. This will actually be an advantage to films which don't get solved much.
O, and I like that now we can see how much people put our shots on favorite :) It would also be nice to get some extra points for these or just a memorabilia for each 50 favorites or something
Also one other question, when we are the poster of a shot, the shout box doesn't indicate anything about spoiler, does that mean it will be seen by everyone automatically? Think there should be the spoiler option too for posters so that we can reply to the hidden shouts too
I also have an issue with the movie Avida. I can find it good while searching it but if I try to upload it I get these 2 movies as a result: * The Hustler (1961) * The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) And Avida doesn't show :-( I guess I will have to wait with it now else it will be too easy but would nice to have this fix :)
I have tried already 3 movies to upload which already exist in the database but do not show when I try to upload. So there is something defenetly wrong here ;) I wont give the movie titles as this will spoil all my shots but it would be nice if this could be looked into
What about the shout box, I'm having trouble with this. If I am the poster: how can I see if the shout that was posted can be seen by everyone or that the spoiler function has been used? And I dont seem to get the spoiler function, so I dont know if my shout will be seen or not
Edit: and about the vote system. Maybe we just have to wait and see but I'm afraid it will also have some down side effects: very easy shots with lots of solvers will have ridiculous high scores (since most people rate really high these shots...)
