What is the worst movie you have ever seen? And I dont mean those "so bad, they're funny again". I mean genuinly BAD movies.
To start: Little Man http://whatthemovie.com/movie/little_man Not funny. Horrible acting. Not funny. Incredibly stupid and BAD! My head still hurts when I think back...
Intersection http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110146/ (the only funny moment is when Richard Gere burst out into tears, but I assume that wasn't meant to be funny)
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120694/ (He ist dead, no there he is again, now he's dead, that car smashed him, there he is again, but now he's dead...)
I think the biggest achievement in my life was watching 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' from the first until the last second. It made me suffer :( Acting was not too bad, but the storyline was horrible and there was no funny moment at all. That's not a good thing for a comedy :p
I'm afraid France is a great provider of bad movies, I recently saw fair play http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454602/ which is either boring and pretentious, but as a great fan of "so bad they're good movies", my limits are hard to reach when it comes to cheezy stuff.
anyway, avoid things like this unless you have a granite stomach:
Anything by M Night Shyamalan after Unbreakable. Yes even Signs. The Happening especially. I mean they were running away from the wind the whole film. Who thought that was a good idea?! (OK the first 10 minutes were cool)
Disaster Movie is the worst movie ever! I'm ashamed because I kinda like the Scary Movies so we can say that I'm pretty tolerant with comedies but this one was... yuuuk...
napoleon dynamite spider-man 3 glitter (yeah I saw it) son of the mask the happening sahara jumper In the name of the king (a dungeon siege tale) semi pro 10.000 bc yes man dragonball evolution
starship troopers 2 was awfull, acting sucked, story sucked, and there weren't even the gigantic bug fights. And (for the dutch) http://www.carryslee.nl/films.php.
Obviously all of the above are pretty bad. But if you would take into account things like available resources, and judge the results with those potentials in mind, my top two worst movies ever are Independence Day and Titanic. So incredibly cliché and banal, with all the predictable ups and downs and romantic intermezzi that make one puke. And the cure for all that shit is... astronomical marketing budgets.
@mariska8: No, you're totally right, LotR is really pathetic. The most overrated film of all times, by the way, is in my opinion The Godfather. Shooting everybody but at the same time loving mommy - oh oh, how brilliant...
LOTR trilogy classed in the same bracket as Anaconda, Disaster Movie, Little Man, etc.. has to be a joke. Someone is being sarcastic surely? OK I probably wouldnt put them in my top 50 movie list, but come on....
Also Barto why Happy Feet? Can I ask how old you are? Its not targeted at adults, its a kids movie, and a good one at that. My little boy loves dancing around to all the songs in that, and the animation is top notch. Say another bad word about it and I'm telling my mummy on you.
I hate every movie with Louis De Funès (including La grande vadrouille, yes, which is the only one I managed to see entirely!) I can't believe this guy is considered as a major french actor...
Bienvenue chez les ch'tis (record success in theatre... WTF it was BAD !) Michel Vaillant (what happened ? un pigeon !) Starship Troopers 3 (with special effect worst than ST1) Super Mario Bros (yeah there was a movie)
@theM00ch: I'm 33, and while I really like all kinds of Disney, Dreamworks and Pixar movies, I found Happy Feet sooooo bad/strange/boring that I stopped watching after 30 minutes, because I just couldn't stand it any more.
But hey, I guess all liking or disliking of movies is of a subjective nature, as for me, I really dig Michael Bay's movies and think that Armageddon is one of the best movies of all times :)
@Barto - of course its subjective, I just dont know how someone could classify a nicely animated, pure innocent kids movie with a great soundtrack "the worst movie ever" - I dont think you are within the movies intended demographic :)
But of course its your opinion. If you think Armageddon is one of the best movies of all time I dont think we will agree on anything :)
Lol Michael Bay.... The worst film I saw recently was transformers 2 so thanks michael bay, made me so angry how much money they threw at it and neglected most of the stuff that makes a film good i.e a good plot, good script, good acting, interesting charectors, good pacing etc... but even that I can't claim is the worst film ever.
Only film I have walked out of... the house on haunted hill (remake)
@Aknilak I can't agree more with Bienvenue chez les ch'tis, I did not understand the success it had (although yes I do understand it a little bit but that's not very glorious lol), this is such a horrible, bad movie!!! One of the worse movie I have ever seen!!
@ evilplopdisease (OMG what's in a name?): you went to Transformers 2 looking for a good plot, good script, good acting, interesting charectors, good pacing, etc? That's soooooo funny!
@ PSPAN, ha ha i wasn't expecting it. I said to myself before seeing it I would be happy if I could find 3 things i liked in it. I found 1 in the fight in the forest. I did not have high hopes but was very bitterly dissapointed none the less.
Come on "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis" wasn't THAT bad !? I mean how can you say it's the worst movie EVER ? In your whole life you've NEVER seen a movie worse than "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis" ? You're one lucky sob !! Same thing for the Titanic or the Lord of the Rings haters, I can understand that you think it doesn't deserve the success it had but come on you can't say they are the WORST movies in a 100 years of Cinema, can you? These movies do have some qualities that some others don't.
As Barto says it's obviously subjective but there are some stuff about Cinema that are not subjective. I mean to be the WORST movie ever you need bad directing, lousy actors, lots of flaws in your story, awful photography, shitty dialogues and so on... I'm not a fan of Bienvenue chez les ch'tis, Titanic or Lord of the Rings (so it feels weird taking their defense lol) but you objectively can't say that they have all these criterias wrong.
I totally agree with theoffice911 about "Bienvenue...". I'm really not a big fan of french comedies (our belgians neighbours are sooooo much better than us at it!), but I prefer 1000 times "Bienvenue..." to "Camping" for example, which is another recent successful one.
@ lordmyst and pspan, okay, a ban on all sequels should not be done. But 1 sequels is often enough. Look at the American pie series. Or spiderman for that matter (1 was good, 2 was avarage, 3 sucked IMHO), or even the batman films (the first 3 B&robin and such). I recently saw Ice age 3, and although sometimes funny, you get a been there, done that feeling. Same for shrek 1234. Sometimes a sequel or prequel is good, but a lot of the times the quality slowly goes down with every new film. Now I am not saying that these films are the WORST ever, but i think filmmakers shouldn't rely on series so much, and give more room for new ideas. But thats all my opinion ofcourse
@theoffice911 Well, if you say "bad directing, lousy actors, lots of flaws in your story, awful photography, shitty dialogues", this is exactly what I thought of Bienvenue chez les chtis, I thought all of this was just awfull! especially the acting and the dialogues... I'm not gona say it is the worse movie ever, I have seen worse, but this one is not very far in my "never watch this again, on any condition.... seriously... How bad!!" book :)
I'm a bit ashamed, but I agree with theoffice911 about bienvenue chez les cht'is. I really didn't liked it, but it's not that bad even if it does not deserves the success it has had. some of you should update their "bad movies" knowledge with some Phillipe Clair movies like "le Führer en folie" or "Rodriguez au pays des merguez". it's an extreme experience, watch your neurons...
About BCLC, the thing is, it was just way overrated by everyone. Imo, the huge fuss around that single movie weeks before its release is the reason of that box office score (thx TF1) Besides, everyone was talking about it back in the days and in the end, lotsa people felt obliged to see it just not to end being the only guy in the room not knowing what this was about.
I'd not describe it as "bad" just another ok movie among tons of other ones out there. The only painful fact regarding this matter is the comparison with... La Grande Vadrouille.
The marketing for "Bienvenue chez les Chtis" was just awesome! It was first available in Nord-Pas-de-Calais cinemas (I live in Lille, I'm a Chti lol) and the success was so huge in the region that a week later when it was realeased all over France it already had been seen by like 300,000 spectators so the rest of France just followed the wave... And really I do think it's even funnier when you come from the North of France because you hear people talking with this accent in a regular basis ! And then I agree that TF1 really helped marketing the movie cuz Dany Boon was in every single show ^^
PS: sorry for the non-French people who read that and who were like "WTF ?!"
