    If you perform a title search with special characters like é, è, ö, etc. IMDb shows "Enter a word or phrase to search on."
    It only works if you enter the title without the special characters (alt codes)
    Is this a problem for French titles, anybody noticed?

    I don't see the problem you're referring to.
    When I type a title with special characters it works perfectly well on the IMDb for me
    (for instance "Joyeux Noël" works fine, "légèreté" gives the expected search results, even "æon" redirects to "Æon Flux"...).

    Might be an encoding problem coming from the keyboard or the browser, but when entered correctly, the IMDb understands perfectly (shame on you for blaming the all-powerful IMDb ;))

    I think Mimimi is talking about the "check name at imdb.com" button on the upload page.

    If there are special characters in the title then the link doesn't work because the characters are not URL-encoded. The server tries to fix this but then also encodes the ampersand sign which leads to a query without a search string.

    http://www.imdb.com/find?s=tt&q=æon
    ->
    http://www.imdb.com/find?s=tt%26q=%E6on
    ->
    Enter a word or phrase to search on.

    ;)

    Right biglebowski, that's what I meant.
    But apparently it only gives an error in the -check name- box.
    (shame on you for blaming my all-powerful system, Zanapher.) :P thanks for checking though. ;)

    that'a real minor problem :)
    At the moment we're focusing on the "checksolution" method.

    a.k.a.

    Joyeux Noël will go green with Joyeux Noel

    and this kind of stuff
