I thought about four seasons theme. You know flower blooming for spring, sunbathing in summer, red leafs and raining in autumn and of course snow in winter. It's a very wide theme, cause you can say that every shot with a view was taken in some kind of season, so maybe there should be rule to have shot which clear shows what season this is. Theme is very wide so it may lead to massive amount of shots so if you don't want to solve 300 shots this time this can be a good theme for sidequest (it will look very nice if shots were categorized and show the change of seasons)
energ: The Four Horsemen I like, but I would like to add Skylines of cities as possible theme. *** That would be a great contest theme! Another possibility could be "cities from above" or more general "view from above" whatever the object is.. I think both themes would lead to a very difficult contest but with awesome shots. =:)

The "Oh My God He Has A Weapon!!!" contest. Get the idea? He/she got a knife, gun, baseball bat, axe whatever behind his/her back.
The "Damned! I Hit A Grocery Store" contest. EVERY car chase has this obligatory scene: the fruits/vegetables hit and run cases."

Damn, im not lazy :D anyway after 1 month break i saw some cool pics "on the beach" (even if i dont know the movie). It would be quite interesting for the eye to see such captures. Nice to see u guys again :)

on a side note: the theme shouldn't be too large, B&W shots is way too generic, I wouldn't know where to start to find a shot. It has to have a similar theme, B&W is not a theme ;)
hmmm ! Look at my big gun ! show me your fear ! let's have a bath (or shower) underwater underwear snakes (and lizards) insects... geometrical shots (shots only withe geometrical forms) and and and ... I need a bottle !!
- outer space (aliens, spaceships, planets) - strange vehicles (cars, bikes, planes etc you never seen in real life) - Footprints (nothing recognizable to see, only footprints of human, animals, vehicles) - silhouettes/landscapes - monster or animals - winner shot is the shot with the lowest solves (restrictions maybe the movie must have 1000+ votes on imdb)
and my favorit: Lucky Looser Contest (only rejected snapshots allowed, no other restrictions) this could have epic options :-P Lucky Looser of the Month Contest for example. Everyone can pick 1 (or maybe 2 for supporter) out of his own rejected stash. Advantages: - no movie slot catching then upload phase begins (damn to slow, damn i have no time etc) - rejected snaps are not totally worthless. Each rejected shot is small/big Disappointment. This will be much less, if you know at the end of the month you can save 1 of them in the contest - upload via 1 click in the rejected snapshot section (additional button integrate) --> no captcha typing (i really hate this!) - bad quality, blackbars, dupes are most already deleted in the NS --> not so much work for the mods
are you not amused to see only boobs in NS? upload yourself shirtless guys and it will be more balanced :-) If it come a only shirtless guy contest i will look for fat and ugly guys :-P
I have an idea, it's a bit radical one, so probably won't happen but anyway: How about a "guess the movie from the music" contest? You post about 10 seconds of a film's score or song or tune. I assume it will require some work by the site designers, though. It will also be nice to have the music on the film's page when the contest is over. I think it could be an opportunity for some new winners, which could be nice (no offence CW and po_chuju_nick :)
edit: I had an idea about "before and after" where you take the same shot twice in two different moments in the movie. For instance: you see a house and later in the movie it's destroyed. Something like that. But I think it's almost impossible to make into a contest.
I really like the idea of Winterwolf to make the shot with the fewest solves winner. Just to ensure not half of them end unsolved the number of imdb-votes should be above something like 20 or 50 thousand (not sure how many movies this would leave, should be enough for not making it possible to try them all). So the trick would be to find hard shots from really well-known movies.
@fnick: Thanks I played it before, and it made me love the idea even more, though there the quality is very poor. I think it's midi or something very space-saving. 10 seconds of music can really get you into the mood of a film.
