First one is done, I personally find it hard sometimes to decide if shots are DivX or DVD, so i won't decide that myself (of course some are very obvious bad rips, but I'm talking about the Con Air shot and the shot above for example).

Mods, I've been trying something on my last two replacements : I put a link to the original shot in a shout below. Does this help ?
That way there should be a notification on the uploader's home page too. -

We have got a comparison method now, so for mods-comparing you don't have to do it. It can be nice for the original uploader to compare, though.

Aralis : don't think we need to change the Atonement one. The small black bars don't take anything away from the size of the shot in the WTM frame.
Stick to the ones that definitely need replacing :) -

Exactly. What I ment by accurate is that I looked for the exact same shot that the original. And the second one is just that. So ... "as you wish"

@Aralis, for some of the shots I agree, for some I really dont think they needed to be reuploaded at all. Please, only use this for shots that are clearly bad quality. We've just said it, this shouldn't be used for simply reuploading in blueray normal dvd shots and it isn't fair (now I see that having that discussion was actually usefull lol)

Yes, I think #55272 and #40969 are not that bad. Bluray looks a lot better ofcourse, but I'm not convinced those aren't DVD shots (but as said before, I'm not good at seeing those things) I guess I'll let the moderators decide if the replacement is justified or not :P .

The matrix and Banlieue 13 shots have been reverted, at least with those 2, they were nothing wrong to start with. If you have a doubt, simply move on, there are so much more shots which are clearly terrible quality, these are the ones which should be replaced. All normal shot replacement to blueray with no clear bad quality justification wont be accepted.

Yeah Aralis, please keep the updates for shots that actually need it. I reverted the first Matrix shot, it really didn't need updating. DVD quality is fine.

But my problem is that I'm so used to BluRay quality now that I honestly thought that those shots from Matrix were not from the DVD. And I just checked on the original DVD and it indeed looks like that :/

About BluRay rips, I'm sorry to say it but that's all I got. I don't have a BluRay player (yet) and I don't buy BluRay discs (yet). All the shots I made on WTM were from BluRay rips which were illegally, I admit it. -

About the Blu-Ray/DVD thing, I was wondering about The Dark Knight, where the Blu-Ray contains some scenes shot in 16:9 (instead of 2,.35:1) and in full hd, of course. For instance, I have this shot http://whatthemovie.com/shot/50313 from my blu-ray, it's in higher quality and fills the complete screen (there's basically more to see). If updating such a shot, I'd definitely ask the original uploader first and show him a shot of the blu-ray snap, but I wasn't sure if it was really necessary (and looking at the current discussion, apparently not even wanted/allowed). The current shot has every right to stay, as it's from the DVD and in good quality, but the blu-ray shot does show more of the picture (and looks cooler, IMO :P). Any thoughts on this?

If what agonistes says is true. I think its better to replace it. The full shots where there are almost no black bars look to me much more impressive than the ones with the black bars. Maybe that's also due to my resolution 1920x1200 at my 15.4" laptopscreen. The shots are already very small. But if agonistes has a BluRay shot which shows more (and therefore has small black bars) I think it would be great to see that shot instead. If it's bigger on the sides and the black bars get broader than I'd say stick with the DVD. That's my cup of tea.
Also for what resolution is this page made? What was kept in mind? Like 800x600 or 1024x768? -
No, I can't stress this enough. Once more - DO NOT replace shots that do not have any quality issues - this isn't up for discussion. If we see any that have this done, they will be reverted. There is no need to spend any time just increasing good shots by a few pixels when there are so many non-DVD shots in the archive.

Can it also be that some DVDs are of lower quality? Like my Good Will Hunting DVD looks very crisp and sharp, while my The Game and Vanilla Sky DVDs with a lot of extra's look much worse on shots. Maybe that even differs per country?
