that movie is very weird....i mean the aspect ratio (imdb):
2.35 : 1 (partly) (35 mm prints)
1.85 : 1 (partly)
2.20 : 1 (partly)
"partly" on the (my) dvd are both aspect ratio, 2,35 + 1,85 together in the movie
:)
maybe a future bd is not so weird..... -
@Terry5: 0 was right to replace it (first because of quality and then to be more accurate about aspect ratio). Your DVD doesn't show the movie how it's supposed to be. The whole experience about viewing this movie, in theaters, was about the frame getting *wider* (from 1.85:1 to 2.20:1 or 2.35:1). But early DVDs (I suspect yours is one of them) got it the wrong way and had the movie presented in "full" 1.85:1 and getting "less high" on 2.20:1 or 2.35:1 sequences. This is not how it should be experienced. Obviously, 0's DVD is more accurate.

Yeah, well, actually, by our book those should not be replaced. This movie intended aspect ratio is 1.85:1 but it was released in theaters *and* on DVD both in 1.85:1 and 2.20:1. Which means those shots are legit.
So, unless the uploader agrees to have his/her shot replaced, this should just stay as it is for now (except http://whatthemovie.com/shot/30270 which should be replaced because of black bars). -

When watching this movie I noticed, that this shot:
actually is much brighter than my version:
However, I'm not completely sure, why this big difference results. It may be the first one got corrections in brightness/contrast or it may just be a very crappy DVD. Anyways, should I replace the original shot with my version? -

For the Babel shot: I have a suspicion that it is a promoshot, so if you can't find any in the movie with eyes open, use the closest shot you can find.

I've got this version: http://www.dvdmax.pl/dvd/art/id/6236 , and i think that my shots are not much better quality... so mayby someone has this movie on BluRay or just other edition with better quality.
About Babel.
I set up vlc to make picture every second, to be sure that i don't miss this shot and I have not found it.

Hi,
I tried to make a replace shot for Texas, but i cant get it in good quality. It´s very blurry because of the motion even if i use the frame for frame feature of vlc.
Does anybody got some tipps for me? (another software or a plugin for vlc or something like that)

@StuntmanMike: As long as it's better than the original shot (and without black bars), it's ok to update. Or can you upload it on ImageShack, or any other pic hosting website, and show us here before? -

so this is closest i can get but in my opinion its not an improvement^^
this is the closest without being very blurry i can get
so i dont know why but the quality of my dvd seems to suck.

@StuntmanMike It looks like you should tick the "deinterlacing" option in VLC's Video menu.
Or maybe your DVD is a crappy one, progressive but based on an interlaced source. If so, there's nothing to do, leave it for someone else to replace. -

I just noticed that Tideland needs quite some replacements, I tagged all of them. But remember, we only want replacements that use the official aspect ratio (2.35:1 in this case). I don't have this version, but if somebody else does, feel free to replace! But remember, shots that are just in different (official) ratios can still stay and be uploaded! Only replace shots where there is actually something WRONG with them.
