I do not know where to ask.
I have a question regarding these two shots:
    #73867
    #87647

both sotd and uploaded by user Chrisy within 2 months, but have different aspect ratio/resolution.
Are they both from different DVD(I do not think you buy 2 DVDs of the same movie within 2 months) or is one from DVD and other is from some DVD screener copy?
    Thanks!

I dont want to start new topic (this topic is kind of similar)
    It's about this shot:
    http://whatthemovie.com/shot/6239
It's in movie "Les rivières pourpres" (2000)
    http://whatthemovie.com/movie/les_rivieres_pourpres
And I believe its should be in "Les rivières pourpres II - Les anges de l'apocalypse" (2004)
    http://whatthemovie.com/movie/les_rivieres_pourpres

(I'm not sure if I should report such things)

@Fireball: The wrist picture http://whatthemovie.com/shot/40949 : are you sure the new one is better than the old one? Because the old one shows more (of the tiled wall and the blood dripping down).

More doesn't mean better. The theatrical aspect ratio was 2.35:1, the shot was composed for that.

Oh, that's OK then. I just didn't think it was possible for us consumers to own a version where there's actually more of the image showing than in the official version (@Razzomega: I actually don't think it's stretched, in the top left corner you can't see the tile row in the new one, and the blood pattern in the bottom doesn't look stretched. But I'm not trying to start an argument :-)).

Aril is right about the stretched thing, I noticed it too ...but I got no clue what kind of version it was which was uploaded here before or if it was some kind of promo shot maybe.

I basically replaced it because of what MisterZob said, imdb says the aspect ratio is 2.35:1 and that's how the snapshots came out in the blu-ray version as well (720x306). So 713x400 just didn't look right to me to be honest and I replaced it. The new version is also not so much blurred and you can see more details of the skin etc.

@aril: Yes, what's on the negative isn't always entirely shown in theaters and isn't MEANT to be shown. That's how some video releases get fucked up, when the transfer is handled by people who just don't care.

On the shot you asked: Definitely. There are still many shots in the archive that don't have teh tag yet, while they need it, but also some tagged shots that are fine. So if you see a shot, where you doubt about stuff like quality: just take the shot yourself and compare them. If it improves: replace it. (this is only if the original shot is BAD quality, not just for all quality improvements, like from dvd to bluray).

Great work updaters! Looks really great!
I noticed something on shot http://whatthemovie.com/shot/67002 . The left part of the shot should not be there, I guess it was a paint-black-barremoval-mixup :)
I think I copy-pasted the shot on to another one and failed to remove it.
Can someone update it? Oh and the quality isnt that great either...
    Thanks!

got a question about the movie The Triplets of Belleville

the whole movie got aspect ratio 1,66:1 but the beginning (still in 1,66:1) they made it in 4:3 + gray bars filled to 1,66:1 - i think they want to show this scene is playing many decades before the main part of the movie

the right aspect should be like at imdb http://www.imdb.de/media/rm3551631616/tt0286244 http://www.imdb.de/media/rm598907136/tt0286244 The gray bars on right/left are part of the movie, because as i said, the whole movie is in 1,66:1

some people uploaded shots of the movie without this gray bars http://whatthemovie.com/shot/6479 http://whatthemovie.com/shot/52479 http://whatthemovie.com/shot/20821 This shots looks a bit nicer as http://whatthemovie.com/shot/65754 http://whatthemovie.com/shot/133361 But the first 3 shots are croped away parts of the movie, which is not allowed or?

You're right, those shots should have bars to keep the 1.66:1 aspect ratio (assuming the DVD is indeed presented in 1.66:1, because I suspect some discs are actually cropped to 1.78:1). Not sure those bars should be grey, though... This kind of effect is used in lots of movies and bars are usually black when it happens. The grey look on http://whatthemovie.com/shot/133361 may come from wrong light/contrast settings.
