recognized that every uploaded shot of pokemon: the first movie got the wrong aspect ratio. imdb reveals 1.85:1, the uploaded ones are 1.4:1. is it okay if i replace them all?

edit: further this http://whatthemovie.com/shot/43481 should be pokemon: the first movie and not the 2000 movie

edit2: http://whatthemovie.com/shot/52695 and #55084 are also the pokemon movie of 1998 and not of 2000

edit3: the year entry of pokemon: the movie is 1998 not 1999 :D

edit4: i asked myself if this http://tinyurl.com/cyd5xz6 would be prefered as title shot since pokemon is a series of movies

Please read the guidelines again: http://forum.whatthemovie.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=781
You may NOT replace shots from legit 4:3 DVDs just because you own the widescreen version. If you want to do so, you need to ask the original uploader first.
Most of theses users are gone, so it's no big deal. But you need to ask pedrorocha if he agrees with you replacing his shots because of aspect ratio. And then make it clear in the shout below each replacement.

Yes, for series of movies, when the official title is "Title of the Series: Title of the Part/Chapter/Whatever", it's better to upload a shot of "Title of the Part/Chapter/Whatever". Therefore you may replace this one.

    Wrong movie issues fixed.
    Release year fixed.

oh sry :/ imdb only reveals the 1.85:1 version, so i guessed it would be the only one... well you never finish your training, next time i'm going to check amazon as well :) i asked pedrorocha for permission belatedly, now.

for the titleshot: could you revert the replacement i did for the 1998's pokemon then? the idea first came to me after replacing the english title by the "title of the series" and not by the "Title of the Part/Chapter/Whatever"

thanks for fixing it all! :)

IMDb is about movies, not DVD/BD. They're only interested in the *theatrical* aspect ratio(s). But movies are, unfortunately, not always released on video in the proper theatrical aspect ratio.

    Title shot reverted.

Regadering alternate ratio's: also amazon often doesn't show it, but I usually keep the general guidelines:

    - 4:3 (and variaties, such as 1.3:1 and 1.4:1) is normal
    - 1.78/1.85:1 normal
    - 2.35:1 normal
For some you also get stuff like 1.6 or 1.66:1.

However, when you start seeing 1.5:1, 1:1 or weird numbers, and it's the only shot in that ratio for the movie, it gets suspicious: then best check with the uploader and/or a mod.

    hello again :)

http://whatthemovie.com/shot/148264 has def been shopped... it's supposed to look like this http://tinyurl.com/bq7oub2 , the other shots of deleted user look fine

i also would like to replace http://whatthemovie.com/shot/46481 by this one http://tinyurl.com/bto4m4h if its okay? the colors look too much saturated and the shot is noisy somehow but i'm not sure if it's the way the 4:3 version is... also just had a bad german copy of the movie for years, well the uploader hasn't been seen for a year now

Feel free to replace http://whatthemovie.com/shot/46481, the reason being: black line on the right.

We need to discuss about the other one.

I accidently uploaded two shots in jpeg format which is obviously worse than png:
    - http://whatthemovie.com/shot/264278 (This one is still in FF for a few days)

    Please replace them ;)

    @Ertai
jpg is not necessarilly worse than png. It depends on the compression rate. Most of the shots uploaded on WTM are jpeg files. Moreover, the mpeg encoding of dvds is based on the jpeg compression scheme. Don't worry about that.

@Ertai AFAIK WTM stores JPEG anyway, and just converts the file you upload if necessary; so uploading a PNG is fine but won't change much. BTW, uploading a JPEG image of the appropriate dimensions (fitting exactly in 720x400) might even give better quality if you saved it with a higher quality than what WTM would do automatically. Actually, I *had* to do that for one of my DTM4 shots, because automatic conversion gave awful results (it was an image with mostly flat colors, and JPEG is really bad at this) -- and now I got used to always do this so I don't get bad surprises.

But if you take shots as a highly compressed jpg and try to post that, it will still look like crap. So only do this if you know what you are doing.
