About Yelle: Well I'm french and I don't enjoy this music... at all... (and I'm not talking about the lyrics that just simply suck !) I guess you're right @fireball, you "have to be not french to enjoy this one..." Maybe I'm just too old for this :-D Your previous posts of "The Sounds" were a lot better than this IMHO ;-)
At the beginnning the Yelle's song "Je veux te voir" was not meant to be a real song, this was just a joke, an answer to Cuiziner from the band TTC, and that was quite funny (a bit like the "penis shot mission" on WTM was a kind of reaction to all the boobs on WTM, and was funny too) Then, she made a complete album and now I have to agree with 0... it sucks!
yes, i already wondered if she is famous in France or if people hate her there maybe. lol
I have to say for a foreigner french always sounds very nice & melodic in our ears, but I know her lyrics are very sexual and provocating, so I can understand it's not everyones cup of tea probably.
I just like the rhythm from these songs and feel like singing them, even I don't understand half of it (but I guess it's good like that). :)
Really would like to know if Palah maybe likes these songs. lol
Shayah said it all :) This song is the penis shot mission! It made me laugh so hard because it was a reaction towards all the guys making songs about "bitches" and "booties"
and about Yelle, OMG it sucks!!! I mean I love the Electroclash sub genre, normally, there are some awesome tunes and artists (adults., lesbian on extasy, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, sexy sushi, Ladytron etc...) but this is just plain aweful!! I already have some problems with some of the lyrics of Vive la fete but at least they can make sometimes good music, this is much worse. beurk beurk beurk If you want something french of that style listen to Sexy Sushi, at least it is very funny, provocative but with always a little meaning behind it, they are mad (the girl seems to always end up naked in the concerts lol) and musically a lot better not just wannabe a pop star with their vibrator ^^ They organise sur-boums sometimes in Paris if some of you are interested lol ^^
Juno Reactor - God Is God A classic tune in terms of mix between world music and electronic music Video "THE COLOR OF POMEGRANATES (1969) Sergei Paradjanov ;)
Last night I listened to some of Chrisys songs, so I will give a short feedback.
Most I enjoyed the ones from "The Knife" & "Sexy Sushi" i guess. They have nice melodies in some songs.
The Lamb & Placebo ones didn't work in my country unfortunaley...but I know already that wouldn't be my taste so much.
From Sexy Sushi I especially liked "Hibernatus DVD" and "Joli Caveau"...I can only judge from melody & rhythm, since I don't get the lyrics but I guess I would propably dance to it when I would be drunk somewhere in France in a disco. :)
Halou & Bang Gang is also okay, when you in mood for something very slow & chillin
The rest like Juno Reactor and Robots In Disguise was average for me.
My most favourite french Singer however wasn't posted yet... :)
Probably there is no way to organize music video contest, but if someday someone will do that kind of contest then i definitely will upload shots from this
Just putting a tune to sati's recent 80's shot http://whatthemovie.com/shot/168511 :) ------------------------------------------------------------------
and also something for the people to enjoy who didn't like the 80's so much
I recently stumbled upon Daughter which actually is Elena Tonra a 21-year old acoustic/folk singer from London. Sit back, relax and take your time to enjoy this song (the woods). It's definitely worth it:
