i readded some "penis" & "penis shot mission" tags from my old backup. If it happens again, let me know, i'll ban the user, i have an idea already about who did that.
edit: you don't need to add "penis" AND "penis shot mission", if a shot has the "penis shot mission" tag, it can be found with the tag search "penis"
efji, watch your language, please. No matter how you disagree with somebody, you used some words we do NOT want to see on either the forum or the website. Also, I get the feeling that you are trying to give the staff a bad image with the "WTM cops" and "big banning gun". If you have problems with any staff member, please take it up with us directly and we can handle it as the adults we are.
And from my point of view (personal opinion as a user, not a mod): if somebody wants to ban "useless" tags (and with that I mean items that are not directly in the shot, so for me "penis" is good, but "penis shot mission" is just a bit childish and by now far drawn out, let them waste their time on this, if it is what makes their frustated little hearts tick. Sometimes I remove pointless tags too (only on my own shots, though), since they still take up space in the database. This is only tiny for each tag, but the more you get, the more it takes up.
@Asmodai I forgot to comment your concerns about the space in the database. A typical tag, e.g. "Penis shot mission", is 18 characters=18 bytes. Imagine the database needs to store many other additional things for each tag, such that it goes up to 64 bytes per tag. What a big deal ! 1/1000th of the typical size of the shot itself.
just because i know you love stats/numbers efji, we have 1M tags in the db which is approx 270mb (i'm coding a statistics page btw with numerous pointless and boring stats!)
Thanks kinoute. I had made my own rough computations and I evaluated the tags to about 200MB, while the shots should take about 20 GB and the 50000 registered users something like 50 GB. Am I right ?
1MB per user :) including the whole profile, shouts, shelf, uploaded shots, favourite shots etc.. But maybe most of the 50000 users have an almost empty profile. I'm sure my account takes more than 1MB :)
hmm too hard to say if you're right or not. Depends if you think uploaded shots = size of all the different pictures from the same shot + the entry in the db or just the db infos saved. If its the last one, your numbers are too high (for the registered users). I don't even think the whole db is higher than 50gb. (that does not include image files ofc).
and for the shots its definitely more (i don't have access to that) because we save the original file which is mostly in good quality (png etc) before generating different sizes
I´m active in this thread for the first time and now I went through some of the discussion. So here´s my point of view: The Penis Shot Mission is a very childish "mission", in deed! I love to be childish! That´s why I love movies and that´s why I love WTM!!!
WTM is filled with tons of nude women and even though I´m 100% straight (in a sexual sense), I consider most of these shots as rubbish. Do I complain about it? Nope!
